Barry Street, Brunswick
Completed (2019)
Owing to its long-standing history of migration, Brunswick is one of Melbourne’s most culturally rich, diverse and stimulating inner-city locales. Barry Street was conceived to extend this idea of diversity.
The project was guided by a survey and consultation process that allowed potential purchasers to have tangible input into the direction of Barry Street’s design, for the benefit of both residents and the wider community. Emphasis was placed on communal areas, including rooftop gardens and external decks that connect residents to the broader Brunswick setting.
The result is a series of 21 considered townhouses that align with the area’s industrial typology, complement the surrounding Victorian terraces and brickwork, and represent a flexible model for inner-city, medium-density housing.
