223 Napier Street, Fitzroy
Completed (2019)
Created in collaboration with Freadman White architects, 223 Napier Street draws on the principles that defined Australian modernism—particularly John and Sunday Reed’s Heide II—to deliver a building that blends raw beauty with sophistication.
Defined by a simple and relaxed material palette of white brickwork and concrete, with metal and timber accents, the solidity of Napier Street is balanced by vertical glazed windows and ‘hit-and-miss’ screening, further softened by a layer of cascading greenery.
Interiors echo that revered local modernist period and embrace a pared-back aesthetic of exposed concrete, timber and brass.
Nestled within Fitzroy’s Golden Triangle, the building’s design harmonises with neighbouring Milieu Projects, Whitlam Place and 231 Napier Street.
