Future Future, Richmond
Established (2018)
Once a dilapidated red-brick terrace, Future Future is the result of a clever conversion by Olaver Architecture. The design takes cues from Japan’s distinct approach to both architecture and food, particularly the idea of wabi sabi—an appreciation for imperfection, acceptance of the transient nature of things, and merging the old with the new.
Inspired by Japan’s izakaya bars, Future Future offers a variety of smaller dishes and share plates that showcase the careful techniques of Japanese cooking, playfully translated for a local audience. Food can (and should) be paired with a Japanese-inspired cocktail or sake.
