1 Waterloo Street, Carlton
Completed (2016)
Designed to reflect and respect Carlton’s rich heritage, 1 Waterloo Street embodies the energy of modern design through a fresh take on warehouse living.
Working with DKO architects, the building’s original façade was retained and enhanced by a clean, vertical extension of metal and glass. A reference to nearby St. Judes Church, the perforated shell plays off the patterned brick of the existing structure and creates a diffused light effect within its interior spaces, which reveals the day’s passage through subtle shifts of sun and shade.
The project encapsulates Milieu’s consistent approach to design by contributing to both the built environment and the day-to-day lives of those who inhabit the homes.
